Not a strong hunter however when you start in your 12th year we have got to give her some credit and a lot for today!!! She was first in her Class of large dogs at 1:32:55 ♥ |
Sparkle did very well at our very first Barn Hunt.

I drove down to Bow, Washington just before lunch to compete with the two girls.
Luckily the weather was good for us.
We were in a nice building among farm living surrounded by beautiful countryside. :)
This was one Trial which we very pleasingly accomplished our third Q to achieve our
AKC Rally Intermediate Title! Sparkle also placed 3rd in her class.
Now to tell the truth of that cheeky monkey Sparkle! While I had Shimmer in the ring her darling mother Sparkle,
yes happy go lucky sweet Sparkle decided she had to bark at Shimmer while we competed in Advanced!
Our lovely judge even said mother cost us some points.
She did this in Monroe too as she watched us competing in the ring! (The second day I covered her crate up!)
Little brat Sparkle but I love her fiestiness all the same especially at twelve years young! LOL
Think she thought she shouldn't be left crated watching us in the ring ... maybe she is saying we are to do a BRACE!!!

I think at her age of 11-1/2 years old Sparkle was feeling a little tired today as was I myself.
It had been very cold in the arena yesterday despite the fact I did have her in a beautifully designed fleece lined winter coat by
Chilly Dogs made in Canada along with extra fluffy blankets in her crate when she wasn't curled up in either mine or Terri's lap LOL.
Today for Trial #3 under Judge Marion Postgate we did not do as well whether it was more myself especially on one station a
big time handler error and or perhaps as well Sparkle was a little tired ... anyhooo we did lose 10 points on the handler error tieing
for a second place by 34 seconds with a qualifying score of 85.
Three Q's under two Judges = an RN - Rally Novice Title.

During lunch break Sparkle and I achieved her Canine Good Neighbour Title!
Just another fun achievement showing good temperament with good socializing and behaviour.
We all want a good Poodle to live with!

Sheep Herding
OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE OF HERDING
It was a beautiful day at Fido Farms owned and run by Chris Soderstrom and Rosie her sweet 10 year old Kelpie
along with many others of their Fido Farm Community.
It was a very busy day starting with an introduction of herding by Chris explaining & showing some of the procedures
of herding by sending Rosie out to collect sheep from the fields while she explained the commands to our group.
To watch the vultures soar over the fields of sheep along with the ravens odd song was mesmerizing while Chris
explained about them migrating & how there was approximately 20 or so one year.
Later on, other than holding onto the poodles I was ready to find a nice grassy patch and lie down to enjoy the vast blue skies
like I use to years ago in the horse fields listening to the horses graze close by .....
We then were able to watch our wonderful poodle friend Vikki whom put on this great event sponsored by
Versatility In Poodles (VIP), work with Rosie in a paddock with three sheep while Chris explained how the Second Leg
worked of the Herding Capability Test.

Yeah finally!!! Our newly acquired five year old Van to take us to all of our poodle events!
I needed a Van 7 years ago!
I pulled out three benches leaving one in for sleeping on, then headed off with poodles Shiraz, Santos, Sparkle and Tang
the next day to FIDO Farms to meet up with poodle friends!
