I found a couple of links within the above link ''dogs for kids". Please read my view below.
1) The most important issue I must point out is always establish leadership for all dogs in a household by ALL people especially children. Many times dog bites happen as a result when a dog sees a child in the same ranks as themselves.
Do not treat your dogs as humans they are indeed dogs so please respect them as so and enjoy all they will give in return as there is nothing better than that! See more of my Behaviour and Training section.
2) A suggestion to spay or neuter asap ...... NO I strongly disagree here and like to see dogs reach full maturity as hormones play such an important part in growth of a dogs body for example letting the growth plate close in the legs before desexing. I like to see a dog be at least 18 months to two years. What's that you say about behaviour? I wanted you to ask that! As soon as puppy or any dog comes home you and everyone must be on the same page yes including you dad or sis on training! Establish boundaries, rules AND be fair following through on all your requests. These are DOGS. Ahhhh it's a puppy ... exactly and they learn a lot as a puppy. If you are not sure practice as the puppy sleeps in its crate. Yes crate your puppy. Practice as a family with a stuffed toy on the end of your leash.

On arrival depending on how your pet looks they might shoot an X-ray to make sure that it is bloat they are dealing with. Bloat will easily show up on an X-ray.
◥ Bloated Stomach in Dogs
When a dog’s stomach fills with gas, it bloats. The expansion of the stomach puts pressure on the diaphragm, which in turn makes it hard for the dog to breathe. The stomach will also twist, causing terrible shock and rapid death. Therefore, BLOATING SHOULD ALWAYS BE TREATED AS A DIRE EMERGENCY.
◥ What To Watch For
Bloating can happen to any breed of dog at any age. However, large breeds with deep chests, like Great Danes or the large Setters, are more likely to suffer from this type of emergency. In certain instances, bloating is noted when the dog exercises immediately after eating. The most obvious symptom is, of course, an enlarged abdomen. You may also observe labored breathing, excessive drooling, vomiting, a weak pulse, and paleness in the nose and mouth.
◥ Primary Cause
Although there are environmental and genetic factors that remain unknown, the chances of bloating are increased by overeating and excessive drinking. Allowing a dog to exercise or especially roll shortly after a meal can also cause problems.
◥ Immediate Care
TAKE DOG TO VET RIGHT AWAY. There, he/she will be stabilized and likely undergo gastric decompression. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to treat the dog for shock on your way to the emergency hospital.
◥ Prevention
Providing the dog normal-sized food portions and allowing her/him time to digest after a meal can help prevent occurrences of bloating, at all ages. Some veterinarians will recommend that breeds more commonly affected with bloating undergo gastropexy, a surgical procedure in which the stomach is attached to the body wall to prevent it from shifting or twisting.
