July 12, 2020 Fun Test
Forecast was rain with some odd rain falls happening however mainly cloudy with a beautiful sunny and very warm afternoon. Yeah!!!
Kareem did well finding the rat in 30.15 seconds for another Rat Instinct.
We went for a couple of beautiful walks afterwards where they had earned a bit of freedom to kick up their heels.
A few stops to smell flowers and bear scat LOL!

YES that is our 3rd Q for his RATN Title!!!
I am glad I didn't blink as he did find it and then moved on.
LOL Looking forward to training closer than a two hour drive across the Border to Trial.

Nothing for Kareem and I this time. We do not have the ability for any training for we just jump into the Trials and do our best and have fun with some great people and dogs!!!
Not all was at a loss though! Kareem's mom Shimmer completed her RATN Title today! :)
Three generations below. Shimmer on ground, Sparkle beside me then Kareem with the wild hair! LOL
During the Barn Hunt Trials I was astonished to see all the Trumpeter Swans in the next fields!
At first I thought they were
Snow Geese. Unfortunately most had already

Yes Kareem is a two year old male that just dealt with a bitch in standing heat for the last week. He truly did not know what to do Saturday and the first Trial Sunday. He was looking for me to tell him what to do. Thankfully on the last Trial of Sunday he started to hunt picking up the rats scent on the one end of the bale. Being there was a mound of hay on top of the bale I called RAT!
It was a shame I did not give him a few more seconds as the rat was at the other end of the bale on the ground.
Oh well ... it is not the dogs that are always learning but the handler in most cases!
Regardless, we are all having fun getting out and about with our Canine Friends and meeting some wonderful new people!
I have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of the Barn Hunts and all the people!

Trial 1
Well if someone didn't do it again!!! What is it with these two year old males?!
Is it because he just turned 2 years old five days ago?!! LOL
So disappointing to have your male lift their leg on a bale of hay however in all fairness the male right before him had already
set the course for the next male by lifting his leg marking on that bale of hay :(

Trial 2
Somewhat to say the least I was slightly discouraged thinking out loud that perhaps we should wait for sometime
to pass and let the teenager grow up out of his young male no brain state ... we went directly into
the next Trial and dang if Kareem didn't knock it out of the park (so to speak!!!)
I observed him get right to hunting asking for a climb. So wonderful to see them start to pick up the scent!
Rat! Yup, so quickly through the tunnel I sent him and congratulations I hear!!!
Our 1st Q
Kareem ran the complete course in 0:41.03 placing .... first and High In Class!!!
I was so ecstatic as I thought he was just not into it! He did it!!!

I am still learning about bringing out the natural instincts and
abilities to show my dogs what we are doing with trying to connect as a team hunting rats.
It always isn't the dog but more so the handler!!!

within the allowable time of 60 seconds!
As this is our first Trial Weekend out after one introduction two weeks prior, I was pleased we were able to do this.
One must establish a team and be able to read each other knowing what this sport all about.
Kareem at one and a half years young was easily distracted of what was going on around him.
In one of the Trials he was caught lifting a leg!!!! Oops ... your out!!!
We had a wonderful time despite all the rain as well.
A wonderful group of people!!!
